Job opportunity: Premises Officer


We are looking for a dedicated person to complement our small team as a live in Premises Officer housed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the East side of the building.

Sir John Moore Foundation is a registered charity on the same premises as sir John Moore primary school. The building is listed and was built in 1697.

Responsible to : Office Manager

You must be: Enthusiastic, committed and have an Inspiring ‘can do attitude’ be able to work on your own initiative to deal with issues/incidents that occur on the premises. A good sense of humour.

Roles & responsibilites

  1. To undertake responsibility for the security supervision of the site.
  2. Liaise with external contractors and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  3. To participate in a programme of general maintenance work as agreed with the Office Manager.
  4. Ensure the buildings and grounds are maintained to a good state of repair and cost effective.
  5. To undertake minor repairs and maintenance on an as and when required basis.
  6. Order materials and cleaning equipment under the supervision of the Office Manager.
  7. Deal with day to day issues relating to the premises and liaising with the school on site.
  8. To open the grounds, buildings and unset alarms in accordance with procedures and open up for community groups and occasional events.
  9. Maintain duplicate sets of keys for all rooms and equipment.
  10. Maintain and update asset register and hi-light any concerns to the Office Manager.
  11. To attend the premises when alarm is activated, out of hours and liaise with police as necessary.
  12. Ensure grounds are kept clean and tidy.
  13. Replace light bulbs when necessary.
  14. To operate the heating and hot water plant
  15. To arrange or undertake the movement of furniture and equipment for functions. Waste & Recycle bins on a weekly basis. (Glass, Cardboard, Paper, Plastic.)


Special Factors: The nature of the work involves working outside of the normal working hours.

The post is subject to a DBS check.
