John Moore was apprenticed to the Grocers company in 1641 became  a Freeman of the company in 1647, and later its Master. 
He was also one of its major benefactors, paying for repairs to its great hall after the fire of London. The book recounts this wider history.
The Grocers were one of the principal guilds, the name deriving from the old French gros and a grosser becoming the term for a wholesale merchant.
