School theatre review in Parish News 1885 praising the role of Robert Kirk Stainton (1860 – 1914), 3rd Master at Appleby school from 1883 to 85.

Qualification given as South Kensington Certificate. During his short stay in Appleby, he organised, painted scenery for, and participated in, a school play. This was praised in the Leicester Journal as well as the local parish news. He emigrated to Queensland, Australia in February 1886 where he married and continued to teach till his death.
